It follows the love triangle between an injured tennis star-turned-coach (Zendaya), her low-circuit tennis player ex-boyfriend (Josh O'Connor), and her tennis champion husband (Mike Faist) across 13 years of their relationship, culminating in the match between her ex-boyfriend and husband on the ATP Challenger Tour.

It follows an alcoholic musician (Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with a young singer (Gaga). It is the fourth American movie made of the story, after the original 1937 romantic drama and its 1954 and 1976 remakes. Principal photography began at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2017.
